Ann Nall first started painting watercolor pet portraits of her own beloved pets plus wildlife that tends to congregate in her family's compound in the heart of Carmel Valley's wine country. More and more over the past year, she has been commissioned by others to do portraits of their animals from photos submitted to her.
Ann has been an artist of some renown in other oeuvres, but because of her increasing popularity as an animal artist, "I pretty much put my other artistic pursuits on the back burner in order to keep up with the animal commissions I am asked to do."

Soulful Pet Portraits from Photographs
Ann captures the soulful expression and intelligence that shines out of each animal's eyes, plus the personality and eagerness that comes through in the way that the body is held.
Obviously the photo that is submitted must be one that most expresses the character of the animal so that Ann can capture its personality into her painting.
And when you look through your photographs, says Ann, look for that rare or favorite photo that you have taken of wildlife. It might make a beautiful piece of art for yourself or given as a gift.
